The 2010 Canadian Home Improvement Show is the industry trade event where retailers in the Ontario home improvement sector come to place orders with national suppliers and source new products. In a move to better reflect its attendees and exhibitors, the Show recently changed its name from the LBMAO Winter Buying Show to the Canadian Home Improvement Show. Building on their success as a true buying show, the LBMAO will continue to host the event.

Now based in Toronto, the Show is central to industry delegates in the province. Connecting Ontario retailers with suppliers from all across Canada, the Show encompasses more than just building materials. Following a concerted expansion over the past several years, the Show has grown to include all of the home improvement sectors such as building materials, hardlines, lawn and garden, paint and décor, and power tools.

Mag Ruffman made a surprise appearance at the show much to the delight of many of the exhibitors and show personal. Ms. Rufffman toured the exhibitor booths with LBMAO President David Campbell and shook  hands and provided photo opportunities. At the end of the tour Ruffman commented on how she was impressed to see how many new and creative building material products were being displayed and she hinted at the fact that there might be a possibility of her personal involvement with the show in 2011.

Otter Creek  President Robert Abbott is pleased to announce that Mike Dawdry has been hired effective August 1st, 2009. Mr. Dawdry’s responsibilities will include overseeing the retail program that Otter Creek has established with the Retail Building Material Companies that currently sell Otter Creek products such as the Titan Post Anchor. Mikes other responsibilities will include helping with other customers who purchase products such as our tropical decking and hardwood flooring.

Otter Creek offers a full line of Specialty Building Materials from various countries and ships the product directly from supplier warehouses to its customers. Products include Ipe, Cumaru and Tigerwood hardwood decking and related railing accessories such as Deckorator and Atlantis stainless steel railings.

Our flooring division called Paw Brand Flooring sells both domestic and tropical hardwood flooring from various suppliers such as Model Hardwoods and Boral Timber.

Otter Creek is proud to annouce that Turkstra Lumber has decided to carry the 4×4 and 6×6 Titan All Hardware package at all twelve of its stores across Southwestern, Ontario starting July 1st.  Janette Pizzacalla who heads up purchasing finalized the deal on June 22nd.  Ms. Pizzacalla said they had studied the advantages of the Titan Post Anchor and thought it would add greater value and functionallity than other anchors currently being offered to their customers from other suppliers.

Otter Creek President Robert Abbott was very pleased to see Turkstra Lumber signed on  as a strategic retail partner for the Titan Post Anchor. “Its Retailers like Turkstra Lumber that have many years of product experience that make this a significant forward step for the Titan Post Anchor on a retail level, says Abbott”.  This currently brings our retailers who now carry the Titan Post Anchor up to thirty in the South Western Ontario region.
