Do the Rail Easy Turnbuckles Accomodate 45° Angles?

August 17th, 2009

Rail Easy Turnbuckle

Hello; I am very interested in the Vanguard cable railing system. However, I will need all of the turnbuckles at a 45 degree angle. Are the ones included adjustable or are there different ones required? I didn’t see an option for this.

Hi Pete, thanks for the interest in our Vanguard Cable Kit. The RailEasy turnbuckles do swivel on a 45% angle. If you would like to speak with Trevor in our sales department he can be reached at 1-866-940-5149 Monday through Friday 8am until 5pm.

Petes response………..

Thanks for the response, I think this will be a perfect solution for what I need.  I will contact Trevor soon.

Stainless Steel Railings a great alternative for interior or exterior railings

March 4th, 2009

Stainless Steel Railings have gained in popularity in recent years as an option over standard railing systems such as wood or aluminum. Stainless Steel Railings offer a modern and elegent look to any exterior or interior railing project whether it be for a private residence or a commercial project. Our stainless steel railings are  made from 316 Marine Grade stainless which is the best grade of stainless steel on the marketplace and should be the only grade of stainless steel you should consider if installing our railings in coastal areas where salt air is present. The 316 Marine Grade is formulated to protect against rust and corrosion in salt air environments.

We offer three systems with the stainless steel railings which are glass, vertical round pickets and horizontal wire rope. Each of these systems come with two inch round polished stainless steel top and bottom rails and stainless steel vertical posts  We custom manufacture these railings to specific project requirments and deliver them direct to your door by FedEx.  It takes approximately 6 weeks to produce most orders. We ask that you or your contractor provide drawings of your project showing exact measurements and dimensions because we use these drawings in determining accuracy when producing your railings. Average costs per lineal foot of our stainless steel railing systems are $185.00 and this includes all hardware, stainless steel tubing and choice of glass, vertical pickets or horizontal wire rope. Any one of these  systems can be installed by the DIY but we recommend having your contractor install if possible. It normally takes one or two days to install depending on how complicated you project is. If your project is incorporating stairs particular attention has to made to the raise and fall and number of treads your stairs have. We ask that you count the number of treads and measure their depth and the raise of each.

We can offer site inspections and installation for our local marketplace at a cost of $60.00 per hour for site inspections and $120.00 per hour for installation. If your choice of systems is the horizontal wire rope and its a residential project we ask that you consult with your local building inspector prior to ordering as some restrictions apply based on the climability of this sytem in the residential building codes.

Stainless Steel Wire Rope a nice addition to your decking project

February 19th, 2009

If you are need of some material that offers a sleak design and a unencumbered view of your surroundings than I suggest you check out the Vanguard Cable Kit that is offered by our sister company Stainless Steel Direct. This design allows you to use stainless steel turnbuckles along with stainless steel wire rope to use as infill between your vertical wood posts. Not only is it stainless steel but it’s 316 Marine Grade stainless which is one of the best grades of stainless on the marketplace.  The Vanguard Cable Kit system is not only beautiful but its meant for the do it yourselfer who wants to add some modern tastes to their deck railing system.  The Vanguard is simple to install as all you need to assemble is a few simple hand tools. All you need to do is attach the turnbuckles to your wood posts with the three stainless steel screws that are provided with each turnbuckle and then attach your stainless steel wire rope by inserting it into the turnbuckle and then thread it into place as this puts the tension on the wire. A helpful tip to consider before starting is to mark your posts before hand with a dark marker measuring the distance between your turnbuckles so they are the same distance on each post. This keeps your wire perfectly distanced between each other when you go to install. You don’t need to put turnbuckles at every post if you don’t want to as you can simply drill through the posts and run your wire through and continue on. We do recommend that this only be done on runs that are straight and no longer than 25ft in length. The turnbuckles will swivel on a 45% for off set posts. It is recommended when you change direct such as a 90% you terminate the run of wire and start a new run using the RailEasy Turnbuckles.  Keep in mind that each run of wire requires two turnbuckles for termination on the starting and termination of each run of wire. On the Stainless Steel Direct website they have designed a handy calculator that allows you to enter in your spans between your posts  in lineal feet as well as the number of runs of wire rope you are wanting to put in. It calculates based on what you enter in and provides a final price for your project. It even allows you to change the calculation at the end if you want to over ride what the calculation indicated you need.

An important note about this system that you should consider before purchasing is that horizontal wire rope on flat landings may not pass your local building code because the wire is deemed “climbable” so I would suggest if your having your project inspected you consult with your local building inspector before purchasing this system.

To view this system and see it’s many features and benefits please visit www.stainless-steel-direct.com you can order right on line and it only takes a few minutes.
