The difference is in the construction, installation and use of the products. The Ipe decking tile comes in 12″x12″ and 12″x24″ sizes and random length Ipe comes from 6ft to 16ft. Random length Ipe decking attaches to the top of existing 2×6 joists. The Ipe decking tiles get installed over existing older deck surfaces such as pressure treated, cedar or any older deck surface that you wish to cover up because its no longer looks nice or no longer fits the landscape surroundings. The random length Ipe decking is not condusive to using in applications such as balconies or rooftops as its just not as convenient to get the random length product onto the job site. The Ipe decking tiles come in boxes which can be easily stored at job site and also can be handled very easily by one person. Random length Ipe must be installed using face mounted fasteners or hidden deck fasteners where there is no required fasteners to install the Ipe decking tiles as they simply snap and lock into place which will resultin hundreds of dollars of cost savings vs standard face mounting or hidden deck fastener installations. Random length Ipe decking will cost somewhere between $8.00 and $10.00 per sqft for a 5/4×6 deck board and another $3.00 to $4.00 to install including labor and fastening supplies. The Ipe decking tiles sell retail for between $13.00 and $15..00 per sqft which is slightly higher vs random length Ipe, but where you can install, andthe cost and ease of installing, the Ipe decking tiles provides a much greater advantage over random length decking.

Hot and humid conditions do not affect the wood. The small gaps designed and left between the slats of wood allow the wood to naturally expand and contract as needed. Under some conditions, a slight cupping of the wood slats may occur after heavy rainfall, but this will disappear as the surface dries not unlike any other deck surface. The Diamond Essence Ipe decking tiles are very stable because each slat is just 2 3/4″ wide x 12″ and 24″ long, making them very stable. Rule is that the wider and longer a pc. of wood is the less stable it becomes.

Otter Creek is the Canadian Distributor for Cutek Green Wood Preservative. Company officials have received very positive feedback from customers with added interest increasing on a daily basis.

Otter Creek performed many tests with the product prior to bringing the product into its stain and seal lineup. With the harsh Canadian winters and the ever increasing extreme temperatures from hot to cold you need a wood preservative product that can stand up to these conditions, said Robert Abbott, President of the company.

Not all stains and sealers perform in the same manner and customers continue to complian to us that the product they are applying to their deck surface is just not standing up. Its either complains about peeling and cracking or extreme fading. In some rare cases complete breakdown of product has been reported. I must admit that I sometime think its an over reaction to the expectations of customers with the product they are using either by being told by the company that sold the stain or sealer product to them or their understanding of the product they purchased.

No matter which product you purchase and what you are told ALL STAINS with fade over time and reapplication is a fact of life with a wood deck surface and a wood deck will never be totally maintenance free. However, you can purchase products that will reduce and save your deck from continuous maintenance every year and also that will preserve your deck for many years.

You may say I’m trying to be partial to a product our company sells and I can understand people feeling that way BUT this product by far is the best stain, seal and preservative product I have come across EVER.

I’m so confident in this product that if any customer calls and complains the product did not meet with their expectations will refund the product purchase no questions asked. If you would like to learn more or purchase this product please call us at toll free 1-800-981-3590 or you can visit our online store at www.myocstore.com

You simply apply Cutek ProClean liberally to a “PRE-WETTED” deck surface with a brush, roller or garden sprayer. Let Cutek ProClean do most of the work by l;etting it dwell on the deck surface for several minutes to several hours, or such time as deemed to be necessary by the test procedure. It may be necessary to scrb stubborn stains moderately with a stiff fiber brush.

Recoating

Following the restoration of the deck surface with Cutek ProClean, it is important to complete the restoration process by coating the timber with Cutek Green . Applying Cutek Green eliminates the need for any future stripping because it will not form a film that will peel off like a varnish. Additionally, it has been specifically designed to maximize the dimensional stability and aesthetic qualities of natural wood, while providing protection against ultraviolet degradation, moisture and biological growth. Always remember that film-forming coatings can peel and may need to be sanded, stripped or scraped when reapplication is necessary.

It is important that the restored wood is completely dry before the application of Cutek Green. All ow 3-4 days of hot, fine drying weather. If unsure, use a moisture meter to measure the residual moisture content of the restored wood to make sure that it is less than 18% before coating.

Cutek ProClean and Cutek Green is available in Canada and the U.S. through Otter Creek and can be ordered by calling 1-800-981-3590

There seems to be many cleaning and restoring wood products on the marketplace today but many of them do not seem to work as well as they state they will. Deck cleaning can be a labor of love at the best of times and having to perform this task each spring can be exhausting to say the least. Many decks in Canada are made from Western Red Cedar and I have discovered that most homeowners and contractors are needing a product that can clean and restore the deck surface easily and cost effectively. Cutek Green wood cleaner and restoring product is the best product I have come across in a long time. I like this product because not only does it effectively clean and restore your deck surface but it also has a chemical agent that migrates through the wood that helps prevent against warp and twist of Western Red Cedar decking.
There seems to be many cleaning and restoring wood products on the marketplace today but many of them do not seem to work as well as they state they will. Deck cleaning can be a labor of love at the best of times and having to perform this task each spring can be exhausting to say the least. Most decks in Canada are made from pressure treated Spruce and I have discovered that most homeowners and contractors are needing a product that can clean and restore the deck surface easily and cost effectively. Cutek Green wood cleaner and restoring product is the best product I have come across in a long time. I like this product because not only does it effectively clean and restore your deck surface but it also has a chemical agent that migrates through the wood that helps prevent against warp and twist of pressure treated decking and we all know this can be a big problem in pressure treated product because of the high moisture content that can exist when purchased from the building retailer. The wood preservative that is used migrates through the entire pc of wood and drives out the moisture that exists in the wood cells thus making the wood more stable. Our company Otter Creek is the Canadian distributor for this product and we would be glad to discuss its benefits in detail with any Canadian or U.S. homeowners and contractors by calling us at 1-800-981-3590 or this product can be purchased online at www.myocstore.com

Its now here and available from Otter Creek Forest Products. Cutek Green is like no other wood preservative on the marketplace. This product will give Canadian and U.S. Homeowners something to smile about when used. Cutek Green has been used in Australia for many years treating large timbers to protect against twist and warp. This patented formula acts like no other wood preservative in the marketplace. Once applied the product migrates through the entire pc of wood from surface to core. It seeks out water absorbed pours and extracts the moisture out of the pc of wood making the pc the wood much more stable and preserved at the same time. Decking contractors will also like the fact this product can be wet stacked and applied immediately to the deck surface. Imagine being able to treat your deck boards and being able to fasten the deck boards immediately to the deck surface without having to wait for the product to dry. Another great feature of this product is it can be applied partially one day and finished the next day without fear of having overlap marks of worry of color variation. The spread rate of this product is 1,000-1400sqft per gallon. Cutek Green comes in 1 gallon sizes and larger if needed and comes clear with options of 18 different color tones that are formulated to enhance the natural character and beauty of the wood without obscuring the grain. This product is an excellent coating alternative for Western Red Cedar, Pine, Hemlock and tropical hardwoods like Ipe, Cumaru and Tigerwood. For further information or to purchase this product please contact Robert Abbott at toll free 1-800-981-3590 or you can purchase on their online store at www.myocstore.com

I have a pressure treated deck that was several years old and it was starting to look drab due to the years of weathering it had. I did not want to replace the deck but thought I would like to attempt to strip it and re coat it to help make it look as new as possible. I was searching around the Internet and came across a product from Woodrich called EFC-38 which apparently works on all types of wood species such as pressure treated, cedar and even exotic hardwoods like Ipe, Cumaru and Tigerwood. This product is granular and you mix it in a 5 gallon pale of water and then you can apply with a power washer on low pressure and then spray it on and leave it for a few minutes and then spray it off. I was unsure how this product would work for my weathered deck that had never been cleaned so I also purchased the HD-80 which is a heavy duty stripper. I was advised to purchase along with this product the brightener which is to be applied after your stripper is used. This product is called Citralic ,Citralic is pH balanced to make the ideal neutralizer for HD-80 and other caustic strippers. I was very happy with the results I achieved with these products and would suggest you visit www.myocstore.com for further information.

Otter Creek is a leading distributor of decking accessories in Canada. It carries a product from Woodrich that Canadian homeowners and contractors can apply to their hardwood decking such as Ipe, Cumaru and Tigerwood. The product is called “Hardwood Wiping Stain” and the colors are suited towards the natural color pigments found in Ipe, Cumaru and Tigerwood. The Ipe formula is called “Amaretto” and when applied it enhances the natural color of Ipe. The other formula they carry is called “Brown Sugar” and when applied to Cumru or Tigerwood it enhances the natural color tone of these two species. The product is carried in 1 gallon and 5 gallon sizes. Two gallons will do 500sqft of deck surface, four gallons will do 500-1000sqt of deck surface and five gallons will do 1000sqft to 1500sqft of deck surface. This product will normally last tow years between coats depending on the consumers preference to final appearance. If you apply each year it will provide a better appearance than if applied every other year. What is nice about this product is it will not peel or flake. Otter Creek performed numerous longevity tests of the product prior to bringing the product on. If you would like to gather further information or purchase this product please visit www.myocstore.com

I live in Canada and the outdoor deck season is fairly short. I have a Western Red Cedar deck and it was starting to look dull and gray due to the weather. I had purchased some new furniture for my deck and decided it was time that I try and restore the deck surface before I put the new furniture on it. I was searching the internet when I came across a product made by Woodrich www.woodrich-brand.com . Its a cleaner called EFC-38 which is a granular product that is mixed in water and then sprayed on the deck surface and then spayed off. I purchased the 2 LB container which makes up to 5 gallons of stripper at full strength. That is enough to restore up to 750 square feet of wood decking. They also carry a 10lb container which makes 20 gallons of stripper at full strength. I was just about to purchase this product and noticed they had a product called Citralic which acts as a brightener and is to be applied to the deck surface after the cleaner is applied. Citralic is pH balanced to make the ideal neutralizer for HD-80 and other caustic strippers. I purchased both of these products from www.myocstore.com which is a Canadian company and they shipped the products in a timely manner.
