Cutek Green Wood Preservative

CUTEK® wood preservatives are unique penetrating oils that have proven to be the ideal preservative and decorative coating for exterior wood. By providing long-term water damage control and surface mould resistance.

CUTEK® products preserve the natural appearance of wood and provide unparalleled dimensional stability. Most coatings on the market form a film over the surface of the timber—even transparent oils don’t penetrate more than a millimetre or so below the surface—and this film forms a temporary barrier to water ingress from above. However, the timber continues to expand and contract with heat and moisture (which in its vapour phase can still enter the wood through the uncoated surfaces). This movement causes the film coating to split, allowing moisture and fungal spores and dirt to be trapped under the coating. The coating fails, and in most cases needs to be completely sanded back, or removed with harsh chemical strippers before the timber can be re-coated.

CUTEK® wood preservatives however
Penetrates deeply into any species of wood, including hardwoods, softwoods and bamboo to provide water and assist with long term dimensional stability from the inside, and don’t form a film.

Resistant to surface mildew, mould and fungus.

The simple 2-coat system can be easily applied by almost anyone, with almost any kind of applicator—no primers required; there are no lap marks and excess product is easily removed.

Does not peel off or crack, but helps to control warping, cupping, and splitting, effectively enhancing the service life of timber. This characteristic ensures that future recoat preparation consists of a simple washdown of the timber, rather than conventional sanding or stripping, resulting in  significant savings in ongoing maintenance costs and time.If your a retailer or manufacturer looking for a product line that will certainly satisfy your customers or manufactured finished wood products this is a must have product. Interested retailers in Canada should call Otter Creek the Canadian distributor at 1-800-981-3590 and United States retailers or manufacturers are asked to call Cutek at 1-800-914-1440

Cutek® Wood Preservative demonstrate a dramatically slowed rate of moisture exchange.

Cutek Green Wood Restoration

Water And Wood

Wood is divided, according to its botanical origin, into two kinds: Softwoods from coniferous trees such as Pine, Hemlock and Spruce and hardwoods from broadleaved trees such as Oaks, Maples and Ash. Structurally softwoods are generally simple in structure and lighter whereas hardwoods are generally complex in structure and harder. Softwood (like pine wood) is much lighter and easier to process than the heavy hardwood (like Oak wood). The density of softwoods generally ranges between 350-700 kg/m³, while hardwoods are 450-1250 kg/m³. Both consist of approximately 12 % moisture. Due to the more dense and complex structure of hardwood, the permeability is very low in comparison to softwood, thus making it more difficult to dry. The timber of living trees and freshly felled logs contains a large amount of water, which often constitutes more weight than the actual wood. Water has a significant influence on wood. Wood continually exchanges liquid and gas phase moisture (water) with its surroundings, although the rate of exchange is strongly affected by the degree wood is sealed. Dried wood that are coated with deeply penetrating hydrophobic (water resisting) Cutek® Wood Preservative demonstrate a dramatically slowed rate of moisture exchange which the end result being the wood remains preserved in the fight against moisture for a much longer period.

Otter Creek is the Canadian  distributor of Cutek Green and they would be happy to discuss the benefits of Cutek Green for your next wood project. Please call Robert Abbott at 1-800-981-3590 or the product can be purchased online at www.myocstore.com
