Cutek Green Weather and Temperature Application Instructions.

June 16th, 2011

Cutek Green Wood Preservative

Wood that is to be coated with Cutek Green should be clean and dry and ideally with a residual moisture content of no higher than 17%. Do not apply Cutek Green to exterior wood if its likely to rain within 24 hours of application.

Cold temperatures may increase the viscosity of Cutek Green, tending to slow down the rate of diffusion. Storing containers in a warm place immediately prior to application will help alleviate this problem. Because Cutek Green dries by diffusing into the wood substrate, application of a second coat of Cutek Green too quickly after the first coat in cold weather will significantly delay the penetration and drying of the finished coating. If this inadvertently occurs, remove the access Cutek Green from the surface with a rag will promote faster drying. Alternatively, the application of the second coat of Cutek Green may be delayed for up to three months in cold weather, with no detrimental effect to the effectiveness of the original coating.

WoodRich Brand Hardwood Wiping Stain for a Red Cedar deck

September 10th, 2009

5WRWS1-2T

Customer Question…………

I have a red cedar deck. Would the Woodrich hardwood stain work on this
deck, or do you suggest something else. The deck is 4 years old and has had
Thompson’s sealing on twice.

Response from WoodRich……………….

The hardwood Wiping Stain Formula performs very well on Red Cedar and other “soft” woods.  The main consideration should be given to the spread rate or product coverage.  As Cedar is generally more porous than a hardwood such as Ipe, you actual coverage will be slightly less than what is advertised for Ipe.  On 4 year old Red cedar that has been protected with Thompsons Water Seal, I would anticipate a spread rate between 200 and 250 square feet per gallon.
The other consideration is product solids.  This formula is extremely high in both resin and pigment solids.  Care should be take not to over apply the product as this could result in shiny spots that remain tacky where the product was not able to soak fully into the wood.  To prevent over application, simply look back over the surface of the deck and wipe up any stain that is still on the surface a few minutes after application.
