What product should I use to finish my Tigerwood Decking?

Tigerwood Decking

Tigerwood can be a difficult wood to finish. The natural characteristics of the wood do not allow finish product to take very well to the surface. I have discovereed a product called “Woodrich” and its color is formulated to the natural pigments of Tigerwood. The product is called “Hardwood Wiping Stain” and it comes in 1 gallon and 5 galllon sizes. I live in Canada and I put this on my Tigerwood decking and it worked very well. The product is a “one coat” application and all access must be wipped off as Tigerwood is very dense and any access product sitting on the top of the wood will simply dry and not penetrate the woods surface so its recommended that you back brush or wipe off any access product with a brush or rage. The product must be put on in temperatures above 60 degrees or 15 C. This product seems to last longer than other competing products and I have been told its because the stain is pigmented to the natural color of Tigerwood thus it takes longer for the UV light to break down the surface color. I re apply this product every other season and most preservatives have to be applied every year.

I purchased this product through www.myocstore.com and the company is located in Canada but they shipped me my order i

Woodrich Brand Timber Oil for Wood Siding and Log Homes

September 13th, 2009

3WRTO1-2T

Extremely easy to apply. Even first time users can expect perfect results. Absolutely will not overlap, run or leave drip marks. Dives deep to replenish old dry wood. Loaded with transoxide pigments providing much better coverage than other paraffinic stains.  Ideal for annual or semi annual maintenance .

If you have ever worked with paraffinic based wood stains, Woodrich Brand Timber Oil will have a familiar ease of use.  No matter what application method you choose, it is impossible to cause any lap marks or runs.  Even those who have never worked with wood at all can achieve a beautiful finish their very first try with this easy to use product.
For those who have used other paraffinic based products in the past, the most striking difference with Woodrich Brand Timber Oil is quality.  Boasting extremely high pigment content Woodrich Brand Timber Oil will not color shift or “fade out” like other products.  Woodrich Brand Timber Oil is also loaded down with enough antifungal agents to knock out any existing mold and mildew spores and help prevent new growth for several years even in the most challenging environments.
Our anti-fungal package has been “jungle tested” and proven effective against over 250 known sources of mold and mildew.
What this means to you is greater protection from less product.  In fact you can expect to use about 20% less product to achieve the same results you get from other brands.  This may not mean much on a 12′x12′ deck, but it will add up to thousands of dollars over the year for a contractor.

When you apply Woodrich Brand Timber Oil you will see the rich oils dive deep into the wood, replenishing it and occupying the voids that may otherwise trap moisture.  Replenishing old dry wood will help to dramatically extend it’s service life.  Even old neglected wood siding will be rejuvenated by the deep conditioning oils. If your unsure which color stain to use we suggest purchasing the sample color kit before purchasing this product.

WoodRich product can be purchased at the Canadian Dealer website www.myocstore.com

WoodRich Brand Deck Stain and Sealer Sample Kits

August 30th, 2009

WoodRich-Brand

Each sample color kit contains four Wood-Tux/Woodrich Brand Hardwood Wiping Stain 2 oz sample vials.  Each sample vial will cover 4 – 5 square feet of wood.  This is to allow contractors to create sample boards using several species of wood, most popular to their market.
When testing for color on an existing project, it is recommended that you test the colors on a board cut from the same lumber used to build the project.  If there is no off cut available, or it is a more seasoned project, test for color in an inconspicuous area.  Because we use the finest micro-ground transparent oxide pigments our finishes have an extremely high degree of clarity.
The color of the wood and the pattern of the grain will determine the finish color of your project.  It’s like looking at your wood through tinted sunglasses.
The sample kit can be purchased at www.myocstore.com
