What is the main difference between Urimat Waterless Urinals and their competition.

October 21st, 2011

Greenbuild Show Toronto 2011 Urimat

Simply put the Urimat waterless urinal does not use any oil in the elimination of odor. Urimat uses a patented internal float that sits within the siphon that creates a barrier between the siphon and the bowl.  The siphon is primed using water and then when urine passes through the bowl into the siphon it raises the float and makes a tight seal against the upper rim of the siphon which in turn creates a natural barrier, trapping any sewer gases and natural urine odor.

Old technology uses a oil that is poured on top of the water in the siphon which was developed to create a barrier between sewer gases and urine odor. The process is flawed because over time the oil dissipates because of various issues such as water being poured into the siphon when cleaning the urinals or lack of maintenance. Oil based siphons must be continuously topped up with oil to eliminate odor and if this is not done on a regular maintenance schedule you will  get the undesirable smells within the washroom.

Urimat has now entered the North American marketplace with this new technology and have strategic distribution locations. Otter Creek is a Canadian distributor that handles Eastern Canada and the United States. If you would like further information on the Urimat waterless urinal please contact Robert Abbott at 1-800-981-3590

Our Urimat Waterless Urinals will save our clients on average of $400 to $600 in water costs per urinal, per year, and eliminate the need for expensive repairs for flush valves and sanitary equipment”. The Urimat Waterless Urinals  will cost between $150 and $200 dollars, per urinal, in up keep for replacement siphons and cleaning materials, each year, but if you consider the savings in water cost and the elimination of expensive repairs associated with water urinals your still saving significant money and saving valuable drinking water.

Urimat Waterless Urinal technology is well received at Greenbuild Show.

October 12th, 2011

Greenbuild Show Toronto 2011

Greenbuild was hosted by Toronto, Ontario, Canada in October, 20011. Urimat displayed their waterless urinal system at the show and even had live demonstrations on how the urinal works. They had two of the urinals plumbed to show how urine hits their bowls and guarantee’s no splash back. The bowls are specifically designed to guard against splash back and each urinal has  what they call an “Active Cube” which sits in the urinal and as the urine passes through it it slowly dissolves (8-12,000 uses) before its totally dissolved and then you know its time to change the mechanical siphon (which uses no oil) and apparently this is the only waterless urinal that does not use a oil substance to keep the odor down. Urimat’s siphon has a float in the middle of the siphon and as the urine enters the siphon the float raises and seals against a rubber membrane and thus seals out any back gases and odors form the sewer line.

Urimat is a Swiss Company and they have been manufacturing waterless urinals for 10 years in Europe and have their urinals installed in MacDonald’s Restaurants in many countries in Europe. They were at the Toronto Greenbuild Show to help raise awareness of the benefits of using waterless urinals in the North American marketplace in helping reduce fresh drinking water used in flushing urinals. Urimat has a Canadian distributor Otter Creek which stocks the Urimat urinals in their warehouse outside of Toronto. For more information about this product please contact Robert Abbott at 1-800-981-3590

Urimat waterless urinal cleaning and siphon change.

October 10th, 2011

Urimat Waterless Urinal Greenbuild Show

It has never been easier to clean or change a siphon when general maintanance is required with the Urimat Waterless Urinal. Urimat is the only manufacturer of waterless urinals that does not require an oil to eliminate odors. It also has  visual maintanaance capabilities so customers know when its time to change the siphon after 8-12,000 uses. The “Active Cube” slowely disolves over time as urine passes through the dome cover. When the “Active Cube” is completly disolved its time to change the siphon. Our cleaning instructions explain the quick & easy cleaning process clearly in just a few steps. Simply spray the URIMAT with diluted MB Active Cleaner (1:20 with water) & wipe the outside & inside of the bowl with a clean paper towel. Then spray the inside of the urinal. Finished! (Spray-Wipe-Spray).

Otter Creek is the distributor of the Urimat waterless urinal and they are currently seeking dealers in Eastern Canada and United States. If your business would be interested in becoming a dealer please contact Robert Abbott at toll free 1-800-981-3590.
