I think that when you are remodeling you want to be around the project as much as possible!
If you can do a lot of it yourself that helps on quality and money.
Usually the best job done is the one you do because you know how you want it done and you
want it done nicely because you’ll be seeing it everyday – the contracter wont!

Update – Eventually got to the point of hammering in the post only to find it would not seat all the way because there is a weld at the base of the anchor that makes it wider than 1.25″. When using the Forstner bit be prepared for a lot of kickback at the start! My post was secured but it was the drill that violently kicked.

Tamarack is very hard. It has a high Janka rating. Please keep in mind that it’s normally the finish on the wood that helps guard against wear and tare. The Tamarack has 10 coats of Aluminum Oxide finish which is normally 2 or 3 times more coating than most applied finishes.

Tamarack sounds like a good product, I have kids, what is Tamarack like for wearability? ls it finished in a natural colour or different stains?
